I believe that you get the most from organizations when you’re an  active participant. Below are some of the organizations where I spend my time.

Professional Societies

    • Independent Book Publishers Association 

      IBPA’s is a trade organization of independent publishers with a shared mission and vision related to small business owners like Relative Connections.

      The IBPA MISSION is to lead and serve the independent publishing community through advocacy, education, and tools for success.

      IBPA’s VISION is a world where every independent publisher has the tools and knowledge needed to professionally engage in all aspects of the publishing industry.

      APG is an international organization dedicated to supporting those engaged in the business of genealogy through advocacy, collaboration, education, and the promotion of high ethical standards.

      • APG Heartland Chapter

        We promote awareness of and interest in professional genealogical services in the midwest; we promote professional standards in genealogical research, writing and speaking; we  engage in activities which improve access, facilitate research and preserve records used in the fields of genealogy and local history; and we educate the membership and public through publications and lectures.

      • APG Great Plains Chapter

        Our goal is to provide greater visibility through community involvement and outreach to local genealogical and historical societies and organizations and to offer an opportunity for growth for those seeking to become professionals in Nebraska, including the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metropolitan area.

    • National Genealogy Society (NGS)  ngs-logo

      The NGS mission is to serve and grow the genealogical community by providing education and training, fostering increased quality and standards, and promoting access to and preservation of genealogical records.

    • Federation of Genealogy Societies (FGS)  FGS Member Logo

      Representing the members of hundreds of genealogical societies across the United States and other nations, FGS links the genealogical community and helps its members grow.

      The ISFHWE goal is to encourage excellence in writing and editorial standards in genealogical publishing.


  • Nebraska Historical Society  Nebraska State Historical Societ

    The Nebraska State Historical Society collects, preserves, and opens to all, the histories we share.

  • Nebraska State Genealogy Society  NSGS Member logo

    NSGS was established in 1977 to increase interest in and raise the standards of genealogical research through educational programs, workshops, and the publication of genealogical data.

  • Douglas County (NE) Historical Society  Douglas County Historical Society

    The Mission of the Douglas County Historical Society is to Collect, Preserve and Present to the public the history of Douglas County, Nebraska.

  • Greater Omaha (NE) Genealogy Society

    The purpose of GOGS is (1) to unite those persons interested in the pursuit and study of genealogy and family history; (2) to encourage the preservation of public and private records; and (3) to promote programs of education which support the growth and development of these fields.

  • Lincoln / Lancaster County (NE) Genealogy Society  LLCGS Logo

    The purpose of this society is to provide education and guidance in genealogical research, to stimulate and encourage an interest in genealogy and family history, and to promote the collection and preservation of records of historical and/or genealogical value.
